Chris Ryniak’s 8-Inch Meltdown Dunny to Hit Stores Feb. 14!

If there’s two things that Chris Ryniak’s creatures seemingly share, it’s an unyielding sense of curiosity and a habit of doing things that are often against their better judgement. Take this dunny for example, who decided to frolic in the abandoned radioactive wastelands of Chernobyl. Not even his pet fish could escape that chemical bath.

While it spelled disaster for the droopy-eyed dude and his flippered friend, it does lend itself to a most awesome toy, does it not? Coming this Valentine’s Day from Kidrobot and CMR is the 8-inch version of Chris’s hugely popular Meltdown dunny from the 2012 series. The first 8 inch out the gate this year, Meltdown is GID and semi-translucent vinyl and comes in four atomic colouways: Green, Orange, Pink and Yellow. Each are an edition of 600 pieces and will retail for $75.

Each colourway will be available through a specific channel: Green is an exclusive to physical Kidrobot stores; Yellow is an exclusive to Kidrobot.com, Pink will be available through select US toy stores and Orange will release through international toy stores. Check in with your favourite designer toy retailers to see if they’ll be partaking in the Meltdown! Congrats, Chris!!

Blamo Toys’s Limited Edition ‘Antique Pink’ Billy

Rocking a beautiful pink wash, the new Antique Pink Billy is an uber limited edition of just 10 figures. Shadoe Delgado’s Raygun-Wielding, Underoo-Wearing Ceramic Marionette

Remember when I was honking a couple weeks ago about Shadoe Delgado’s masks and how rare his old ceramic work is to come by these days? Well, friends, I present you with another sweet opportunity:

Shadoe is moving! Living in San Fran is just way too expensive, so he’s picking up and moving his arse back to Arizona. But moving is expensive! And his older pieces are not only big, but the steel stands are heavy as heck, so he’s looking to find new homes for some of them. He gets cash, you get a seriously stunning ceramic marionette: it’s win-win.

The first fellow to go up for adoption is The Villain, a “dastardly, ray-gun-wielding, underoo-wearing fiend” who is one in a series of superhero marionettes made for Fabric8′s Everybody’s Hero sculpture show back in 2011. With the stand, The Villain measures in at 8″ x 6″ x 34″, and the base will not include the falling hatchmarks.

Interested? You should be. I mean, it’s not every day you see a steel-based ceramic marionette running around in his underwear with Earthworm Jim’s raygun! I have this weird habit of buying a ton of art in the winter. Maybe it’s because I spend so much time indoors during the cold months, or maybe it’s because I bore easily, but whatever the reason, the stuff on my wall’s gotta move. So what better way to celebrate the new year (and a new office for this gal) than with some utterly gorgeous prints from Kathie Olivas?

Released last month in the CP shop following Kathie’s solo at AFA NYC, the limited edition prints are each an edition of 40 and retail for $125. They’re printed on 13″ x 19″ paper with archival inks, come signed/numbered, will outlive you, and are just really, really nice. So treat yourself and do something with that lackluster wall in your workspace; trust me, it’ll be just the perk you need to get you through to the spring!

Big Moog Fluffy Sasquatches from Hollow Shells

Nothing like cuteness to beat the Monday blahs: fresh out of the cave from London’s Hollow Shells are a pair of Big Moogs, i.e. giant mutant Furbys, i.e. the most adorable yeti dudes I’ve ever seen. Standing just shy of 9 inches, these guys are the super-sized version of Hollow’s standard 6-inch Moogs, but with all the bells and whistles like hand painted cast resin faces, horns, claws and weighted feet for optimal understanding (ha).

They’re stitched from from a variety of fake furs and felts and get this: the big guys are only a hundred bucks. Seriously! A hundred bucks for a one-of-a-kind creature from the UK ain’t half bad, considering the conversion usually reduces our dollar to the equivalent of confetti.

New Plush Skelve Edition Coming Soon from Nonesuch Garden x Circus Posterus!

How freaking cute is this?! Revealed a few days ago on the Circus Posterus Instagram is the first-ever Circus Posterus plush edition, brought to you by needle ninja Nonesuch Garden!! Aside from the gorgeous needle felt Sproutlings that we mentioned a few days ago, Megan also creates these little felt animals called “Nonesuch Dolls”. She created these specifically with customizability in mind and as you can see here, she’s made quite the kingdom in the past couple of years. Each Nonesuch Doll is hand sewn from Megan’s own patterns and use wool felt, embroidery floss and polyester fiber fill. They also have string jointed arms and legs, allowing them to hold simple poses. Have a seat wherever you’d like, Sir Skelve!

Most of Megan’s dolls stand around 4.75 inches, and that seems to be the case for the Skelve also, judging by the 6 inch Zombambies he’s mingling with. Nothing has been said about a release date, other than they’ll be hitting Stranger Factory “soon”. Will keep you posted as soon as more info is released!

Yosiell Lorenzo’s Edward Scissorhands and ‘Secrets’ Wood Prints Releasing Today

Hot on the heels of his sold-out Clockwork Orange and Donnie Darko wood prints comes Yosiell Lorenzo’s newest release from his cinema series: Tim Burton’s melancholic cookie cutter, Edward Scissorhands. Titled “Because you told me to,” the 9″ x 11″ print is limited to 50 copies and will retail for $45 shipped.

In addition to Scissorhands, Yosiell will release an original 7″ x 9″ wood print, entitled “We can bury your secrets here”. These are an open edition and will retail for $30 shipped. Sawdust Bear’s Center For Otherworld Science Coffee Mug Kickstarter Project!

Coffee drinkers worldwide, Sawdust Bear needs your help!

Since 2009, indie comic and monster maker Shing Yin Khor has been building an organization and universe known as the Center for Otherworld Science. From bugs, to comics to shirts, all that she creates generally relates to this universe, and in an effort to expand the Center, market it and turn it into a viable “thing”, she is building a field kit for its patrons (that’s us!). These snazzy coffee mugs are the first piece of the package and are available now via Shing’s Kickstarter Project!

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, she’s already reached her goal. In fact, it was quadrupled on the first day, which is AMAZING news! Not only does this mean that backers get cool bonuses, but she’s adding stretch goals and additional pledge packages almost daily. The Wandering Misfits Miniseries from Circus Posterus x Cardboard Spaceship x Shinbone Creative

For the past six weeks, Brandt Peters’s Instagram has become something of a breadcrumb trail of sketchbook teasers, revealing, every few days, a character from his and Kathie Olivas’s upcoming miniseries, the Wandering Misfits. Produced in conjunction with toy retailer Cardboard Spaceship and design agency Shinbone Creative, the vinyl toy series is based on familiar characters from the Circus Posterus universe, including the Snake, Greeter and Boo Skelves, and also the Mist Kuma. And that’s just what we’ve seen so far!

In addition to the mini vinyl toys, Circus Posterus will also be releasing a few of the figures in a 5-inch resin format, like the GID Greeter pictured here. KO announced today that the resin Greeter should be available within a month or so. There’s been no word on what they have planned for these, but here’s hoping that it means hand paints!

Anyhoo, given the amount of time that a vinyl series like this takes (and props to Shinbone’s Scott Wetterschneider for nailing it once again), I wouldn’t be surprised if these drop during convention season. Could this be what brings Brandt and Kathie back to SDCC? Or will these be haunting the aisles of DesignerCon? Only time will tell. But follow Brandt’s Instagram for the next hint!

Brandt Peters & FERG Rock the Squadt World Again with THE TERROR BOYS

Just moments ago FERG revealed this detail shot on his Instagram of what is allegedly the next collaborative Squadt release and it’s with none other than Trouble Boys mastermind, Brandt Peters! Dubbed THE TERROR BOYS, the name implies that this will be a series, so grab your crash helmets, gang, because we have more internet-crippling releases in our midst! This photo looks like a test pull so we’re still a ways out from a full reveal, but in the meantime, take a sec and refresh yourself on Brandt and FERG’s genius with their first Squadt series: the award-winning TROUBLE BOYS.
