Late Season: A Scarved Critter and the Crumbeater

Aww, that’d be the weirdest love story ever! But anyway. The final countdown to Late Season is on and the onslaught of critters continues! Mandi’s have officially spawned arms (we’re all doomed!), and Chris is putting the final touches on the last of the 2D pieces (there’s 10 of them!). Party starts this Friday at Stranger Factory in Albuquerque. Ooh rah!!

Chris Ryniak’s Butts, Bats and Zombies for ‘Late Season’ 11/18

We’ve got a trio of butts and some sweet drawings in this round of Late Season teasers from Chris Ryniak. So great to finally see some of the 2-dimensional work he’ll be offering up and, not surprisingly, these are no exception to the bar he set with the previous pieces. Can’t believe this show is just over a week away — if you haven’t signed up for Stranger Factory’s preview list yet, I highly suggest doing so now! Late Season opens Nov. 18th with an opening reception from 6pm to 9pm. Chris and Amanda Louise Spayd will both be in attendance.

Recap: Circus Posterus @ Designer Con 2011

Circus Posterus partook in the Designer Con nerdfest at the Pasadena Convention Centre last Saturday and toy maven Jeremy Brautman was on hand to scope out the goods for us! The gang had some beautiful clear test mini Skelves on hand (including long-nosers which sold out in a flash) along with many other resin editions and paper goods. Jeremy also reports that DrilOne was announced as the newest member of the CP family — congratulations!

Check out Jeremyriad for more CP coverage and the full Designer Con scoop!

FERG x Grody Shogun ‘Young Gohst’ WIP

Too. freaking. awesome. News of a collaboration between FERG and Grody Shogun (Lulubell’s Luke Rook) has been floating around the interwebs for a while and CAD boardies got a taster early yesterday of the brilliance these two have in the works. Sculpted by Scott Wilkowski and produced in conjunction with Shogun, the 3-inch Japanese vinyl figure features a sculpted brain that fits within a semitransparent body (notice the ‘skull cap’). Seriously. And the little tongue hangs out of his mouth.

From the sounds of it these will be available via a subscription service from FERG, but an official announcement is yet to come. Expect test-pull pics in about three weeks!

Indigo Silver Fade Skelve from Brandt Peters & Kathie Olivas for Designer Con 2011

Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas are debuting their Indigo Silver Fade Skelve at today’s Designer Con nerdorama! This guy has been a long time in the making — some of you may remember him making a brief appearance (sans embellishments) last year — and for a while it looked like production had been killed. So this is a most triumphant return and the new paint accents certainly bring some spunk. Look for these at Mana’s booth (#313); they’re in limited supply so it’s strictly one per customer!

Additionally, the Circus Posterus gang promises a bunch of surprises at their booth (#104), including sketches, custom and test skelves as well as sweet merch from each attending artist. Stop by and say hello to Brandt, Kathie, Chris, Amanda and Dok! The party is on from 10am to 5pm today at the Pasadena Convention Centre.

Amanda Louise Spayd’s ‘Dark Medic’ for Designer Con 2011

Amanda Louise Spayd will be chillin’ at the Circus Posterus booth (#104) during Designer Con today and she’s brought six of these little dudes along for the ride! Dark Medic is a variant of her latest editioned critter, Little Medic, and depending on collector response, we might see more of these guys soon. Price is TBA but expect it to be in the ballpark of $80. Designer Con is on from 10am to 5pm today at the Pasadena Convention Centre in Pasadena, CA.

Doktor A’s Humphrey Mooncalf: Nocturnal Edition @ Designer Con 2011

Let the all-night dance party begin! Doktor A’s ‘Nocturnal’ Humphrey Mooncalf is making a cameo at Designer Con this weekend via 3DRetro’s booth (#507)! From the looks of it, this fellow is sporting eyes and a removable brain that glow in the dark, which is first for Sir Mooncalf. Can’t say how many will be available but the DC site is reporting that quantities are “extremely limited” so get on it, then! Expect them to be in the $85 to $100 price range. Also be sure to pop by the Circus Posterus booth (#104) to pick up Dok’s exclusive metal badge (below)! More info on that here.
